Advocacy & Support

Our helpful and friendly Family Link Workers can provide individual support in person, over the phone or by email.

Initial meetings take place at a location convenient to you, which could include, your home, our office, a children’s centre or school. Family Link Workers discuss the challenges that parents and carers are experiencing, helping you to identify what help you may need and agree an action plan.

Some examples of the type of help we can offer include:

  • supporting you to navigate/understand the systems,
  • supporting you at/preparing for meetings,
  • helping you talk to professionals,
  • providing information about grants and benefits,
  • accessing local groups,
  • information and support about moving to adulthood.

We are unable to provide legal or financial & welfare advice or representation (e.g. attend tribunals); however, we can signpost you to organisations who offer these services.

Family Link Workers work to talk to you about your experiences, help to identify what help you may need and agree on an action plan. Our work with you is confidential and we always seek your written consent before being able to represent you.

It all got a bit much and I felt like no one was listening or helping me. Family Link worker's words of encouragement, telling me how strong I was, that I could and would get through it. I am in such a better place myself that I was and strong enough to get my son through it.
